As Wisconsin’s largest community action agency and as a part of a national community action agency network, we, Commissioners of the Social Development Commission and staff want to publicly condemn the recent shooting targeting Asian women in Atlanta, Georgia.
Shots fired hundreds of miles away have penetrated the heart of our Milwaukee community. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
This act of terrorism reminds us why our mandatory advocacy role is so important.
The Social Development Commission’s Board of Commissioners and staff join outraged people everywhere.
We stand hand in hand with our Asian sisters and brothers demanding an end to anti-Asian violence.
We will not be silent.
We remain vigilant.
The Social Development Commission Board of Commissioners and staff are committed to fighting hate boldly regardless of where it rears its ugly head.
We will work with others to dismantle a culture that historically tolerates racism and violence in this country.
