Healthy Homes Program

The Social Development Commission (SDC)’s Healthy Homes Program protects children and families from hazards found in homes that cause lead poisoning and trigger asthma symptoms. During the pandemic, as school went virtual and families spent most of their time inside, many realized they were placing their children in danger. Many times, these dangers are unseen and hard to detect. Through the Healthy Homes Program, SDC provides inspections, risk assessment, education, and remediation of these harmful dangers hiding in your home.

Program Requirements

You can take advantage of the Healthy Homes Program as a homeowner or renter. There are many ways to qualify for this program.

You may qualify for this program if…

• Live in a home built before 1978
• Have children in your home under age of six OR
• Have a child 2-18 years old with poorly controlled asthma
• Pregnant
• Live in Milwaukee or Waukesha County
