Pathways to Homeownership

Have you dreamed about owning a home but never thought it was possible? Everyone deserves a chance to own a home. The process of purchasing a home can be intimidating, and some believe it is out of their reach. But not anymore.  

The Social Development Commission (SDC) Pathways to Homeownership program cuts obstacles and creates real opportunities for building wealth through homeownership. Buying a home is a big decision and a financial investment. It is also an exciting and major step towards financial success. 

No matter your credit score or income, buying a home is possible. SDC will help you prepare to purchase a home and walk you through the process from beginning to end. Join SDC’s Pathways to Homeownership program and get started on your pathway to buying a home and building wealth.  

SDC’s Financial and Housing Specialists provide financial counseling and education classes free of charge. Eligible participants may receive down payment and closing costs help, homebuyer education, and certifications to make buying a home a reality.

Who can apply?

  • Milwaukee County residents interested in purchasing a home

  • Individuals who have NOT owned a home within the last three years

  • The program does NOT accept customers who are already under contract to buy a home

  • Customers must be interested in buying a home for owner-occupancy
