Richard Rothstein Color of Law Luncheon

The Social Development Commission (SDC) is excited to welcome author Richard Rothstein to Milwaukee for a luncheon keynote presentation. He will present his research work on education and racial segregation based on his best-selling book “The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America.”

Through the Color of Law, he shows how the government ignores and promotes the unfair policies that have impacted generations of African-Americans. He will discuss the history behind the inequalities in his books and research.

Richard Rothstein was a keynote speaker at the 2021 Summit on Poverty. He is back to continue his presentation, scheduled in person. In-person seating is limited to the first 200 guests. We are excited to announce that Frank Martinelli will also be joining us for an interactive discussion!

Frank will take us through an exercise to discuss self-advocacy and what true civic engagement looks like. Frank Martinelli was a workshop presenter at the 2021 Summit on Poverty and has been a longtime partner of SDC.

Frank Martinelli has over 35 years of work, training and consulting experience with a variety of nonprofit and public sector organizations. He is president of the Center for Public Skills Training where he specializes in strategic planning, governing board development, and community partnership and alliance building.

Advanced in-person registration for the luncheon closed on Tuesday, April 12th. On-site registration will be available at the luncheon. Virtual registration will be available through the end of Richard Rothstein’s presentation on Monday, April 18th.  There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
