Volunteer Opportunities for VITA
(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program)
The Social Development Commission is looking for volunteers year-round to assist us in providing our free tax service to qualifiying members of the community.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help across for households with low-to-moderate incomes. Over the 2016-17 tax season, VITA volunteers prepared more than 13,000 federal and state tax returns at no cost to families. Please join us in making the 2017-18 an outstanding success by volunteering for the program and making a difference in your community. Learn more about VITA's impact.
You will help residents maximize their tax returns by avoiding refund anticipation loans and high tax preparation fees. As a volunteer, you will receive free training; accreditation; help people begin to build financial assets; and be part of a program that helps thousands of households every year.

The following are wonderful volunteer opportunities to give back to the community and assist low-to-moderate income residents. Upon acceptance of your application, there will be hands-on training and you will become IRS certified.
Client Intake Specialist
Volunteers must attend mandatory Tax Preparation Training. Upcoming training dates will be provided upon approval of your application.
In addition to completing the Volunteer Interest Form included in the volunteer description, you MUST complete and submit the Background Information Disclosure as required by the Internal Revenue Service.
