The Social Development Foundation Annual Appeal is underway! SD Foundation supports the programs of the Social Development Commission (SDC) that provide pathways from poverty to success for tens of thousands low-income individuals and families. We appreciate any contribution to support services including but not limited to education and job training, youth food programs, senior services, residential services, youth and adult services and more.
Your financial or in-kind gift supports several programs that help SDC provide pathways from poverty to success. On eof hte largest programs serving out community is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This free tax preparation and filing service has been operated by the SDC since the 2001/2002 tax season. Nearly 11,800 federal and state tax returns have been prepared and filed for free. As a result, almost $193.6 million has been returned to Milwaukee County by providing this tax service at no cost to low-to-middle income households.
The IRS requires that matching funds are provided by the community to operate this program. We are continually accepting gifts in order to operate the program at full capacity. We hope that you will consider making a donation to allow us to provide this, and other valuable services, to our community.
