(Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
Become a volunteer for the Milwaukee Asset Building Coalition Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program for the coming tax year. You will help residents maximize their tax returns by avoiding refund anticipation loans. As a volunteer, you will: receive free training and accredidation; help people begin to build financial assets; and be part of a program that helps thousands of households every year.

Tax filing software is provided through MyFreeTaxes.com and powered by H&R Block.
Attention FoodShare Recipients:
If you an Able Bodied Adult Without Dependents (ABAWDs), between the ages of 18-49, you may be at risk of losing your FoodShare benefits. New eligibility rules went into effect April 1. If you do not qualify for an exemption, you must participate in the FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) program. When you apply for or renew your FoodShare benefits you will have to meet a work requirement. if you do not meet the FSET work requirement for 3 months (consecutive or nonconsecutive) during a 36-month period, you may lose your FoodShare for the rest of the 36 months. If you are between the ages 14-18 and have anger management issues, we invite you to learn to manage your anger through Yoga. It will improve mood and health. If needed, you can receive community service hours for taking part. This is a six-session series:

This Home Improvement Fair will off the ability to learn about $1,000 exterior home improvement grants, low cost programs for home insulation, rebates for energy efficiency repairs and low interest home improvement loans.
SDC will be sharing important information about benefits available to seniors at the 50 Plus or Better Expo on Thursday, October 22. Join us at the Wilson Park Senior Center (2601 W. Howard Avenue, Milwaukee) from 9:00am – 1:00pm. There’ll be entertainment, a fashion show, medical, insurance, music, health screening, housing information and much more!
