The purpose of this annual, two-day event is to bring men, father’s and future father’s together to identify solutions and resources for support in promoting positive activity in the father role. We also gather data to help address the many obstacles that prevent men from being involved, responsible and committed fathers.
The theme of this year’s Fatherhood Summit is based on realizing the wide spread impact of trauma and understand potential paths for recovery. When changing the narrative, it provides a different perspective. Not what’s wrong but rather, what happened? The guiding principal of our theme is to identify resources to assist in the development of internal strengths, discipline and knowledge to overcome negative influences and barriers impacting the life of fathers. Then the appropriate referrals can be made to begin the healing process. MFI believes that the goal of improving the well-being of children is to provide them with involved, responsible, and committed fathers that have access to the services needed for wholeness.
Our goal is strengthen the knowledge and skills of fathers and caregivers in all communities to build strong pathways, leading to healthy father development and engagement in the lives of their children and families.
