SDC Youth Development Program provides education, employment, recreation, support and opportunities developed to promote gang prevention, help at-risk youth and stop alcohol and drug abuse among youth.
Community Service Alternative Program (414-906-2791)
- Identify community service alternative to citations, fines, detention or jail
- Referrals come from Milwaukee Municipal Court, Milwaukee County Children’s Court, Milwaukee County DA’s Office, and walk-ins.
- Case Management Supportive Services
- Weekly School Monitoring
- Weekly Home Visits
- Monitoring activity of at-risk youth in order to prevent negative behavior.
Baby Think It Over (414-906-2799)
- Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program using a RealCare baby to simulate caring for a live infant
- Participants meet once a week for six weeks
- Participants discuss abstinence, methods of caring for infants, cost of having children, prenatal/post natal care, and contraception
- A RealCare baby is assigned at the end of the sessions to care for over a weekend
Teen Talking Circles (414-906-2790)
- An all teen discussion circle based on honesty and support
- Participants discuss topics such as peer pressure, media influences, teen violence, family relationships, and methods on how to positively handle negative situations
Conflict Resolution/Mediation Workshops (414-906-2791)
- Interactive role play skits that offer solution to resolving conflict
- Workshops and seminars are facilitated at Milwaukee Public Schools and alternative schools, which also includes Choice and Charter sites
- Crisis mediation in cooperation with parents, schools, and local officials
Youth Sports & Recreational Activities (414-906-2792)
- Youth have the option of participating in a variety of sports leagues which include: basketball, flag football, volleyball, bowling, softball, golf or soccer
- All league opportunities are available to both males and females, some activities are co-ed
- Young people have an active role in planning and implementing events such as: teen dances, youth rallies, and educational field trips
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Abuse – ATODA

The Social Development Commission’s Youth Development Program contains a State of Wisconsin certified licensed outpatient ATODA clinic which:
- provides ATODA education, assessments, counseling, and treatment to Milwaukee County youth between the ages of 8 and 19.
- offers out-patient treatment and referrals along with case management and support for youth
- provides anger management counseling for youth through one-on-one or group sessions
- also provides educational presentation to young people in Milwaukee Public Schools and alternative schools.
