Ways to Work is a family loan program that has partnered with SDC to help low-income families with their transportation needs by offering small loans. Loans must be used for either a vehicle purchase or the repair(s) of a vehicle already owned.

Through the Ways to Work program, a client may borrow up to $6,000 for a purchase and $1,000 for repairs (consideration is given for the value of the car) at an 8% interest rate. The repayment period is up to 24 -30 months.

Eligibility requirements include being of at least 18 years of age, in poor or no credit standing, a resident of Milwaukee County, an involved parent of at least one dependent child, employed at least 20 hours a week for a period of at least six months, the holder of a valid driver's license, attend financial literacy class, and able and willing to repay the loan.
