Skills Enhancement Program (Skills)

Program Description
The Skills Enhancement Program (Skills) offers participants the opportunity to develop skills that help them secure better paying jobs with employer-provided benefits.  Skills provides individual service plans, job search assistance, child care assistance, transportation assistance, basic computer instruction, basic skills instruction, employability soft skills, and financial literacy.

 

 

 

Eligibility
Any Milwaukee County resident currently employed at a minimum of 20 hours per week and household income which meets the eligibility guidelines.

Q. What is the Skills Enhancement Program?

A. The Skills Enhancement Program is a financial support program to help low-income individuals participate in short-term training programs to increase employment by helping with tuition, books, fees, transportation, and child care.

A. You must be a Milwaukee County resident, work at least 20 hours per week, and meet the federal income guidelines.

Q. What if I don't have a job but receive disability or social security?

A. You would be ineligible for the Skills program because you have to work at least 20 hours per week.

A. As long as you meet the income requirement you would be eligible for the Skills Enhancement Program.

Q. How do I sign up for the Skills Enhancement Program?

A. You need to schedule an appointment with the Skills Enhancement Specialist to further determine your eligibility.
