Project GAIN (Gaining Access to Income Now) is a partnership between SDC, the Wisconsin Children's Trust Fund, the Department of Children and Families (DCF), and the UW-Madison Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP). SDC staff will provide in-home financial case management for families struggling with economic hardships that are referred by DCF. A wide range of financial programs and services will be provided to the participating families including assistance with accessing public benefits, financial planning assistance, and one-time emergency cash assistance to alleviate a short-term financial crisis. The three to five year program is being evaluated by IRP to determine the impact that improved financial stability can have on the welfare of children in the identified at-risk families.
In addition to a grant from the Children's Trust Fund, a $25,000 grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Alma Smith Wright Fund, Kathryn Jane Wright Fund, Gertrude Ann Meixner Fund, and the Arthur W. Fairchild Fund helps support Project GAIN.
