Program Description The SDC Head Start Program provides comprehensive early childhood education to low-income children ages 3-5 with the involvement of their parents. Children receive educational classes, health and dental screenings, a snack and meal daily, and access to other necessary social services. Parents become involved with every aspect of their child's education through participation in classroom activities, parent meetings, and policy-making committees. Workshops for parents include personal growth and development, parenting skills, community advocacy, and more.

Q.  What is Head Start?

A. Head Start is a half-day or full-day classroom experience full of fun and learning activities.  Head Start prepares children for kindergarten, and provides parent support and self-development opportunities.

Q.  How much does it cost?

A.  Head Start is a no-cost child and family development program.

Q.  What does Head Start offer?

Q.  When does the Head Start classes operate?

A.  Four or five days a week, Monday through Thursday/Friday

  Head Start Income Guidelines
To be eligible for the SDC Head Start Program, a child must be 3-5 years of age, live in Milwaukee County and meet the program's low-income eligibility guidelines. This includes children with disabilities when Head Start is an appropriate placement.
