Program Description

The Family Support Center provides shelter for homeless families.  The center’s EMERGENCY SHELTER offers relief for immediate needs like bedding, food and clothing.  It also provides longer-term services such as case management, employment counseling, parenting, supportive services necessary to restore family stability, assistance in obtaining adequate permanent affordable housing so that families are able to transition back into the community. 

Eligibility

Potential residents will be homeless, such as: single females with children, single males with children with proof of custody/primary placement documentation and married couples with children with a legal marriage license.  Family size and room availability to be determined during phone interview.

Q. What do I need to bring with me?

A. Picture ID, social security numbers for all entering, proof of income, marriage license (if applicable), and/or custody papers (if applicable)

Q. How long can I stay?

A. The Family Support Center is a short-term emergency shelter.  The initial stay is based on 30 days.  Compliance with shelter policies and procedures is expected from all residents.

Current needs at the center include:

  • Cribs and bedding
  • Twin bed sheet sets
  • Waterproof mattress pads (twin size)
  • Mattresses (twin size)
  • Pillows
  • Face towels
  • Bath towels
  • Diapers – all sizes
  • New children’s and infant clothing/shoes (socks, underwear, winter coats, hats, mittens/gloves, etc.)
  • Adult clothing/shoes
  • Clothing racks
  • Hygiene products
  • Electric fans
  • Gardening tools
  • Car seats
  • Water toys
  • Tricycles, scooters, hula hoops, and other outside toys
  • Cleaning supplies (Lysol, bleach, dish detergent, mops, brooms, dustpans, Windex, etc.)
  • Gifts for Family Friends volunteers (tote bags, t-shirts, coffee mugs, picture frames, bath sets, gift cards, key chains, etc.)
  • Professional training services
