What is the purpose of the SDF?
The Social Development Foundation (SDF) was established in 2003 as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization for the sole purpose of providing financial support for the programs and initiatives of the Community Relations – Social Development Commission (SDC). The Foundation’s vision is to generate private-sector support to supplement tax-based funding, with the result of enhanced services and a broadened awareness of SDC’s mission in the community: Empowering Milwaukee County families with the resources to move beyond poverty.
How does the Foundation use its donations?
Throughout the year the SDF awards Grants to various SDC programs. Thus far in 2007, grants have been awarded in these program areas:
1. Family Support Center Emergency Shelter Program
2. Youth Development Program College Tour
3. Skills Enhancement Program matching funds
4. Education & Training - Testing & Graduation Fees
